Arrival in the Engadin

By car

You can reach the Engadin easily and safely by road from anywhere in Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Austria. Examples of distances and travelling times: 

Zurich - Pontresina: 200 km, 3 hours 
Milan - Pontresina: 175 km, 3 hours 
Munich - Pontresina: 300 km, 4 hours 
Basel - Pontresina: 250 km, 4 hours 

In times of snowfall, the drive over the passes is only permitted with snow chains or a 4x4 vehicle.

By train
With its loop tunnels and dizzyingly high viaducts, the journey by Rhaetian Railway (RhB) from Chur - Tiefencastel – Engadin is among Europe’s most picturesque and interesting in terms of railway technology. The option also exists to travel to the Engadin from Landquart via Klosters – Vereina Tunnel and thus reach Pontresina from Zurich HB (main station) in 3 hrs 19 min.
