Anuschka & Thierry Geiger-Starkloff (1971), your hosts

A well-practiced duo with a wealth of experience in 4 and 5-star hotels – both in Switzerland and abroad. The couple’s last position was as managers of the Hotel Crystal in St. Moritz. With great delight and much elan, they are now taking on a new challenge at this traditional Pontresina hotel and anticipate many happy and successful moments in the magical Saratz.

Christian Zinn (1981), Vice Director

Born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, Christian Zinn inherited his passion for the hotel business from his parents. After a classic apprenticeship in hotel management at the 5-star Hotel Bareiss in the Black Forest, he worked as a management-trainee at the Sonnenalp in Vail, Colorado. He was then employed at the 5-star Hotel Suvretta House in St. Moritz until he returned to his homeland for the reopening of the Schloss Elmau luxury hotel in 2007. He has been a member of the Hotel Saratz team as Chef de Réception since 1st May 2008 and furthermore as Vice director since 1st December 2010.

Valère Braun (1971), gastronomy chef with Federal Certificate of Proficiency

Alsace-born Valère Braun came to Switzerland over 10 years ago and, amongst other things, has employed his skills as sous chef at the Grand Hotel Quellenhof in Bad Ragaz and recently as chef at the Restaurant "La Terrasse" in the Grand Hotel Victoria Jungfrau, Interlaken. From January 2000 to May 2003 he was a team member and captain of the Swiss Culinary National Team. During this time the team defended its position at international level, once winning the World Championship title and twice coming in as runner-up.

Michael Merker (1978), Head of Human Resources

Michael Merker was born in the African state of Burundi and has lived in the Engadin since 1989. After completing his matura studies at the Academia Engiadina, he graduated from the Belvoirpark School of Hotel Management in Zurich. He has gained experience at the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains in St. Moritz and at the Waldhaus am See, St. Moritz. Michael Merker has been engaged at Hotel Saratz since November 2006, initially as assistant to the personnel manager and now with full responsibility for human resources.
