Pontresina is located in the Upper Engadine, in the middle of the triangle formed by Zurich, Milan and Munich. You can easily reach your holiday destination using the Rhaetian Railway, the excellent road network, or by plane.
By car. You can reach the Engadine easily and safely by road from anywhere in Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Austria. Examples of distances and travelling times: Zurich - Pontresina: 200 km, 3 hours Milan - Pontresina: 175 km, 3 hours Munich - Pontresina: 300 km, 4 hours Basel - Pontresina: 250 km, 4 hours In times of snowfall, the drive over the passes is only permitted with snow chains or a 4x4 vehicle. By train. The journey by Rhaetian Railway (RhB) from Chur - Tiefencastel – Engadine, with its loop tunnels and dizzyingly high viaducts, is among Europe’s most picturesque and interesting rides in terms of railway technology. Another option is to travel to the Engadine from Landquart via Klosters – Vereina Tunnel and thus reach Pontresina from Zurich HB (main station) in 3 hrs. 19 min. Online timetable at www.sbb.ch.
