The romantic Saratz hotel park proudly extends over 35,000 m2. It is both an oasis of retreat and reflection as well as a nature park. With its gorge, the historic bridge, the old pavilion and wash-houses at the river - it is full of discoveries.
In summer the park offers golf practice (sand bunker, putting green, pitching green), heated outdoor pool with sunbathing lawn, natural running track, tennis, chess, boccia, Robinson playground, sand pit, hammocks and much more.
In winter the hotel transforms the park to a sun terrace with loungers and blankets.
350 km slopes with guaranteed snow, 180 km cross-country trails, 150 km of winter hiking, tobogganing trails, deals curling, ice skating, bobsleigh and Cresta runs, equestrian sports, winter golf, paragliding, kite sailing, cricket and many panoramic restaurants, ski huts and snow bars ensure activities at the most attractive level during the Engadine winter.
All this for the past 150 years, as in neighbouring St. Moritz the winter holidays have been invented. The summer tourism was already in full swing, when in autumn of 1864 Johannes Badrutt made a daring bet with four English guests: he waxed enthusiastically about the sunny, pleasant winter days and promised them that they could enjoy being on his terrace in their shirtsleeves during this period. His guests, familiar with the cold, damp English winter, could not begin to imagine that it could be different in the Swiss Alps. Johannes Badrutt offered to pay their travel expenses if he should prove to be wrong.
We now know that the pioneer won his bet; the guests were astonished by the sunny weather and the majestic winter landscape. His British guests didn't depart until springtime, replete with suntans, and enthusiastically recounted their Alpine winter experience at the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz to friends back home. The start of the winter sports in the Alps was born.
If you book more than one night in Hotel Saratz, you receive the ski pass for the Engadine St. Moritz skiing area for CHF 35 per person per day. The offer is valid during the winter season 2014/15 and has to cover your entire stay.
Make sure to buy your ski pass conveniently at the front desk. Free travel on public transport for the entire region is included with the purchase of a ski pass.
