It includes an indoor pool with whirlpool, spacious relaxation area, a classic wooden sauna, a steam bath made from natural stone, hydro massage showers, ice fountain, relaxation lounge and a gym overlooking valley Roseg and Roseg glacier. The Oriental Sarazenen Spa located in the old vaulted cellar is a modern interpretation of the hamam. Hotel Saratz also has the highest situated and largest outdoor pool in the Upper Engadine, the Bagnera, heated from June to October.
Generally (depending on the weather), it is open and heated from June to October. After spending an active day in the Engadine mountains, the pool offers a well-earned cool down or to laze around.
Speaking of lazy: Our team at the Café Bagnera serves snacks, grills and cool beverages directly to the pool. Life can be so beautiful...
The main attraction beside the actual Sarazenen Spa in the old vaulted cellar is the Rhassoul, a bath based on oriental traditions. The body is massaged with three different kinds of healing mud – a more than 1000-year-old Oriental nurturing ritual where the skin gets stimulated by taking a steam bath and then purified with healing mud.
A quiet room, flooded with natural light from panoramic windows, affords views of the large 35,000 m2 hotel park and the Roseg Glacier. An additional access to the hotel park has been created specifically for lovers of fresh air. And for all those who prefer to remain inside, the Sarazenen Spa offers numerous hydro massage showers and an ice fountain, which is certainly more than refreshing.
The Oriental touch of the Sarazenen Spa is superbly suited to the Hotel Saratz: a glance into the past reveals the Saratz family’s connection to the Orient. Their roots go back to the Saracens, an Arab people who came from North Africa around 900 BC, travelling via Spain and over the Alps. An old bridge in today’s Pontresina was built by the Saracens and was called Pontem Sarasinam, which over the centuries has developed into today’s Romansh name of Puntraschigna, or Pontresina. Today, the Saratz family are regarded as the founders of the Engadine holiday resort.
What the Finns have always known, also holds true in the Engadine: Experience the cleansing effect of our Finnish saunas and treat yourself to something special. Regular sauna sessions strengthen the immune system, increase well being and have a positive effect on the skin.
Our Finnish saunas reach a temperature of 70°C, the steam bath of 40°C. After the sauna, hydro massage showers, plunge pool and an ice fountain provide a welcome refreshment. Afterwards, guests can ease off in our relaxation room, where fresh apples and tea are available.
Our massage therapists offer a variety of massages daily. The massages are recognised by Swiss health insurance companies.
